Today it snowed – endlessly!

And then it snowed some more. It was an indoor kind of day, so we skipped the beach, and the fire pit party. Perhaps tomorrow.

We baked, played, cooked, painted pictures sang Christmas carols and then guess what – the sun came out ! But still no beach party.
Good King Wenceslas – do we even know how to pronounce this?
Fun fact. Did you know that in the Christmas carol, “Good King Wenceslas” was a true Duke of Bohemia? Thanks to a godly grandmother, he was a kind-hearted man who became a good ruler at only 18. The carol we all know tells of the story of a cold night when Wenceslas upon seeing a poor man gathering firewood, decides to go to his house to help him. Traveling through the snow, his page complains of how cold his feet are. Wenceslas suggests that the page walk in his own footsteps, to lessen the pain of the cruel snow. He was so warmhearted, that there was still heat in those foot-steps for his page! They were then able to travel on together to bless the poor man with a meal.

Help
Help comes in many forms. This year I have seen God send more warmhearted help than ever before. At a particularly low point earlier this year – the pantry was empty. I don’t mean like kinda – I mean really. I wasn’t sure what we would be eating for the next couple of days. Then my sweet neighbor showed up that very day, who after a Dr’s visit had been told she couldn’t eat dairy and eggs. So she was at my doorstep seeing if I could use these 2 bags of groceries from her fridge. Only God knew my dilemma but used this sweet lady to help in our time of need. I cried.
Sometimes the giver may think it is a small thing that they do. Never. It is a wonderful, humbling, healing and life-changing thing when you have been helped. I hope to return help and bless this season to the needs around me. I pray that we will be those warmhearted ones, whom God leads to travel through the ‘snow’ to bless others.
“ Therefore, as we have the opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Gal. 6:10
