Life eventually includes hard days. Whether its trials, brick walls or days that are just plain crazy. So, what are we to do? Well, it was a tough week in Bonanza—one where my life felt so overwhelming, I struggled to take my next breath. When I look at my own inadequacy I the face of the tough days, I think of Bilbo Baggins saying, “I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean: like butter that has been scraped over too much bread.” Yep, this week was a doozy.
Thankfully, when life’s chaos threatened to overwhelm me, God, in His boundless grace, gently reminded me to count my blessings and lift my heart in praise. And it changed everything. Knowing in my mind that God is good and loves me is one thing, but it’s in turning my heart toward Him—declaring His goodness and offering gratitude—that I truly find peace. No matter the storm, there is always, always something to be thankful for.
Jesus took our place on the cross, bearing the sin of the whole world for all time in His body – so that we could have new life.
Our own problems are small compared to the sufferings of our Savior and the immense blessings we experience every moment as children of God. Salvation alone is worth a lifetime of praise.
“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” – 2 Corinthians 4:17
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” Rom 8:2
Today, I am thankful for my humble Savior, who endured this human life with all its trials and triumphed over it all—even the grave. I am humbled that He saved me from a life of hopeless trials and is working all these seemingly random events for each of us for His glory now and in eternity. Hallelujah!
Love and blessings,
Kay
